About Us

The Michael J. Petrides School is a seamless Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade school committed to creating an environment for learning that nurtures the "whole child" - mind, body, and spirit.  Teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff collaborate to provide an education that celebrates the diversity of our students and recognizes the individuality and creativity of each child.  Using alternative strategies of a laboratory environment, we integrate the arts into a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum and engage students in active learning, develop self-esteem and promote, generate, creative, life-long learners.

Back to School Invitational

We will be welcoming our Petrides families to campus, on our quad, for our annual Back to School event on Tuesday, September 8th.   You are invited to pick up important start of school information, including class/teacher assignments for elementary school students and student programs for middle and high schoolers. We will also be distributing transportation information such as bus/walker tags for early childhood students and MetroCard’s for high school students.  

We will be hosting important parent meetings for students and families in transitional grades;

Pre-K, K, 6th, 9th and 12th

Please note parent meeting schedule for transitional grades: 
4:00 pm – Pre-K Orientation, Room B104 
4:00 pm – 5th Grade Orientation, Auditorium
5:00 pm - Kindergarten Orientation, room B104 
5:00 pm – 6th Grade Orientation, Auditorium
6:00 pm – 9th Grade Orientation, Auditorium
6:45 pm – 12th Grade Orientation, B104
 

There will not be formal orientations for non-transition grades. Students and families that are not in transitional grades are welcome to meet your teacher(s), drop off school supplies and pick up transportation information anytime between 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

All items and supplies being dropped off must be clearly labeled.  Supplies will be delivered to your child's classroom during the first week of school.   

Please inform your students grade level assistant principal if there is an overlap in time with siblings and any orientation time. 

September 10th is the first day of school for all students.
