Principal's Weekly Message (The Week of September 12)

The Petrides School

The Week of September 12, 2022

Dear Parents,

It was great to see some many of you at our Back to School Event last week.  And, so exciting to welcome our students back on Thursday!  Thanks to all who shared their “first day” pictures 😎.  We’re looking forward to an awesome school year.

Elementary and Middle School Parents: Please join us for Virtual Curriculum Conferences this week, see specific times below.  Teachers will be sending “Remind” messages; you can find the link for the virtual event in your child’s Google classroom.  Don’t miss this opportunity to meet your child teacher(s) and learn about grade level standards and expectations.

With the opening of the Hungerford School building on our campus, we have worked with the Department of Transportation to plan for a safe and orderly flow of traffic in and around our school.  Please follow the identified traffic pattern and obey the rules of road when driving on campus.

As usual, we expect minor delays during drop-off and pick-up on the first few days of school.  Please read below to understand the expected flow of traffic on campus.  We appreciate your cooperation in following these established protocol and thank you for your patience and everyone settles into the flow of things.

  • MORNING DROP OFF: For the safety of all, we are suggesting that all parents who drop their child(ren) to school (grades Pre K through 12) to use our Stop and Drop services located at Circular Drive (inside the campus).  DO NOT stop to let students out at the flagpole as this will disrupt the two-way flow of traffic.
  • AFTERNOON PICK-UP: There are some parking spots in the Visitor’s Parking Lot reserved for parents picking up children in the afternoon.  These spots will be “unlocked” and available to parents beginning at 1:30 pm.

We ask that you drive safely and slowly in and around our campus.  And, that you follow established traffic patterns and rules when driving and comply with pedestrian guidelines, including crossing at designated crosswalks, when walking.
