Update: A Message for Parents of High School Seniors

The Petrides School

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: A Message for Parents of High School Seniors

April 15, 2020

Dear Senior Parents,

In these uncertain times, please know that we are thinking of you.  With the recent decision to close for the remainder of the school year, the reality that our end of year activities can’t happen is settling in.  The staff and I have been discussing alternate ways to honor and celebrate our high school seniors, although I think it’s too early to make definitive plans now.

It is heartbreaking to think that we won't be able to celebrate together with a traditional graduation ceremony, but the possibility does exist that we will not be able to have such a gathering anytime soon.  I'm holding onto hope that even delayed (late summer) senior activities may be possible.  (We have reserved an August date for the Senior Prom.)

We did meet the early March deadline for submission of the senior yearbook, they usually arrive later in June.

We will continue to take direction from the NYC Department of Education, the State Education Department and the health professionals navigating this pandemic.  And, we’ll keep you informed on what that means for our school community and the Class of 2020.

Once we know what can (and cannot) be done - we will issue refunds, accordingly.

Be well.

Sincerely,

Joanne Buckheit

Principal
