Principal's Weekly Message (The Week of March 13)

The Petrides School

PRINCIPAL’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

The Week of March 13, 2023

Dear Petrides Parents,

This letter is to notify you that our school has been designated for Local Support and Improvement (LSI) by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for the 2022-2023 school year based on the performance of our students on New York State assessments in the 2021-2022 school year.  The previous designation “Good Standing” has been changed to “Local Support and Improvement (LIS),” to recognize that all schools, even higher performing schools, are in a continuous improvement mode and can benefit from local support from their districts to meet students’ differentiated needs.  The school’s designation is part of the state’s accountability system consistent with federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requirements.  In the 2023-2024 school year, NYSED will be updating school accountability designations based on school year 2022-2023 results.
