Students Outside Play in Cold Weather

As the temperature drops in the winter months, The Petrides School will follow NYCPS guidelines when playing outside. Please keep in mind we will keep an eye on the weather and give our students an opportunity to play outside during recess. Of course, we will always ensure our students are safe. 

NYCPS guidelines; During cold weather students should still be allowed to play outside whenever possible. Unless it is snowing, there is ice on the playground, or the wind-chill factor is below zero degrees Fahrenheit, schools should not prohibit outdoor play based on the outdoor temperature alone. Schools are encouraged to maintain outdoor play periods, and take precautions to keep students warm and to ensure that they are appropriately dressed on very cold days.
