There will be many exciting things happening in 6th Grade ELA this year, this includes our Common Core aligned reading and writing
program, Expeditionary Learning.
I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize how important it is for your child to read daily. We will be taking time to independently read in class, however it is equally important for your child to set aside time to read at home. Cultivating a love of literacy & encouraging children to read every day, jotting notes while reading, responding to and thinking deeply about the text, will help to support your child in becoming a stronger reader AND better writer. The more time children build into their day to read,
the richer their vocabulary base will become, which will reflect in their language, as well as in their writing.
A strong home*school connection is a vital component in supporting your child to learn to their fullest potential.
In order to keep communication strong, you can opt in to receive class messages and information regarding 6th Grade ELA.
